Hornet Award: Dawn Sexton

Excerpt from nomination:

"Mrs. Sexton has come back from retirement to teach 4th and 5th grade Science. You would never know she had previously retired! She has jumped right back into teaching not only science, but Fine Arts as well. She actively seeks out projects and hands-on experiments for her students. Last year Dawn mentored a new teacher and this year she is continuing that mentorship and has agreed to mentor another new teacher as well. Dawn has also started an after school Science Fair Club, which more than 25 kids attend regularly. She is always smiling, has an easy nature and rapport with kids, and is always willing to find ways to support our building, staff, and students."

Kearsley Student Interns: Archiving Kearsley's History

Two KHS students, AJ Martin and Ava Salem, began their student internship this past summer digitizing Kearsley Schools' history. They scanned and organized senior class composite photographs, ECHO yearbooks, student activities, and athletic team photos. Some of these documents date as far back as the early 1940s.

Their work will be unveiled when Kearsley's Community Recreation Center (CRC) opens in early Winter. The lobby of the CRC will have a searchable-digital kiosk displaying Kearsley's history in images, and will be available to view on Kearsley's website. Kudos to AJ & Ava, their work demonstrates #PrideTraditionExcellence in action!
